Living Things and Their Habitats

As part of their Science topic Beech Class have been exploring a variety of ways to identify, sort, group and classify living things. The learned about ‘vertebrates’ and ‘invertebrates’, working scientifically to create their own classification keys to group and identify them.

They also created their own new species of animal and adapted them to suit the school habitat. They then worked together in their teams to release them into the wild, setting obstacles that the other teams had to go through to find their animal and then went on the hunt for the other teams’ new species.

Also as part of their preview homework they learned about endangered animals and thought about how they could help save living things. In school we then completed a Habitat Survey of the school grounds, analyzing dangers and debated about what could be done to help.
As part of their homework task they also created fantastic posters with practical ways to help endangered animals, well done Beech Class. A fantastic effort this term!
