Love one another ~ Love learning ~ Love nature

Welcome to Hugh Joicey CE Aided First School

We are a small and rural Church of England Aided First School.  We very much think of ourselves as a school family - we love one another (John 13:34). The way we 'live' this is deeply embedded in how the school runs, both in its vision and in the day to day operations.  We are all kind, empathetic and thoughtful.

We have one of the most beautiful school buildings in Northumberland and we see it as our ‘home'; it very much feels and looks like a house! Whilst we strive for a feeling of a family home, we also know that it’s a place of learning and we love learning!  We show perseverance when learning is difficult and we embrace challenges.

We love nature, our beautiful school ‘home’ also has amazing outdoor spaces; we are truly blessed with the nature that is around us. These learning environments enhance our love of learning; loving nature feels unavoidable when spending time in our forest school. The enthusiasm and excitement that we see in our pupils makes Hugh Joicey such a special school to work and learn.

Our curriculum is designed to enjoy and appreciate our wonderful local surroundings and community while also being outward facing and embracing a modern world.  We enjoy our traditions and respect our rich history but we also prepare our children to be courageous advocates in a fast-changing global society.

We are an experienced, professional, friendly and hard working staff with a dedicated Governing Body. Our PTA provides a huge amount of support for our school and we welcome families, friends and members of the local community to our special events.

I hope our website provides you with all the information you need, but we love showing visitors around our school.  We are proud of what we do, and who we are, so please get in touch if you would like to know more.

Mr. Chris Roberts (Headteacher)
